One of the most obvious changes in the new CS4 applications is the user interface, and this change will also be carried over into the next version of Adobe Photoshop. This decision is described in detail by John Nack Adobe. Nack describes how Adobe has been trying to make the interfaces of their applications more consistent and shows a screenshot of the new Mac Photoshop "implementation framework". This implementation framework contains elements of the user interface, as well as the documents themselves. Despite expressing his own initial resistance, Nack explains the advantages of the account window:
- Provides up to N-(2-a, 3-up, etc) document designs that are tailored to adjust the interface. Think of "living window mosaic" - great for comparing, composition, etc.
- It becomes easier to move the entire application and content, including from one monitor to another.
- Prevents the documents to get obscured by panels (palettes).
- Lock the contents of the desktop, minimizing the visual clutter.
